Relocation costs are not explicitly covered by LAGNiAppE training program. However, we intend to make the first regular stipend payment ahead of the program start date to help cover expenses.

We are currently unable to support Mentors or Co-mentors that are located in other states. However you can get involved by sharing this opportunity with your students. Use our flyers on your campus and our slides in your classes, please email us to get the material.

We have a list of potential Co-mentors who have indicated their interest in participating in the program this year and their research interests that we can share with you. If you want, you can reach out to a potential Co-mentor and share information about your proposed project and explain how they align within your research interests. We are also happy to match Mentors and Co-mentors that we think would work well together.

Yes, we want to increase collaboration between institutions in Louisiana. The Co-mentors can be based at other LSU campuses. 

The program is designed so that each Scholar will be part of a Research Collaboration Unit that includes the Scholar, a Mentor, and a Co-Mentor. There will be a maximum of 10 Research Collaboration Units in the 2024-2025 cohort.

Yes, we provide $10k in funds to support each of the Scholar's research and research-related costs. These funds can be used to buy any material required for performing or communicating research, or to support the Scholar’s professional development. We also provide stipends to support the Mentor and Co-mentor.

The Scholars will be asked at the beginning of the program to rank the projects of interest, and we will try to match them as closely as possible. No project can have more than one Scholar. 

The Scholars will be working as part of your lab for 11 months, starting on August 8, 2024. Yes, the Scholar should be fully integrated into your research lab and community, and we encourage you to invite them to activity happening with your lab or in your department. These are great opportunities for the Scholar to learn more about the dynamics of a research lab and large research institution.
