Our alumni and friends play a key role in upholding the LSU College of Science's legacy of excellence in STEM education and research in Louisiana. We invite you to support our goals by giving to one of our priority funds. One hundred percent of gifts made through the LSU Foundation are designated for the sole benefit of the College or its departments.
Our goals center on providing the best opportunities for our faculty and students. The options described below compose the framework that supports a successful college.
For more information on these and other funds, contact a member of our development team.
LSU has identified a site for a 148,000-square-foot Interdisciplinary Science Building that will be the new campus district for scientific discovery. The four-level faculty will serve as the hub for research collaboration that will provide a foundation to grow interdisciplinary research at LSU and increase the college's intellectual and economic impact of Louisiana.
Annual Fund and Dean's Circle giving provides essential dollars used to initiate new programs, fund current activities, and provide flexibility for meeting student and faculty needs.
The best undergraduate and graduate students are heavily recruited by the top universities. Our goal is to successfully compete for Louisiana's best and brightest students and to attract outstanding talent from across the nation. We also strive to provide nationally competitive programs and experiences so that no Louisiana students must leave the state to find better educational opportunities. These include:
- Science Honors Scholars Program
- Biology Intensive Orientation for Students (BIOS)
- Endowed and Non-Endowed Undergraduate Scholarships
- Endowed and Non-Endowed Graduate Stipends and Fellowships
- Student Travel Funds
- Faculty Support
The college's faculty provide the foundation for maintaining our outstanding educational and research programs. Therefore, the ability to attract and retain a world-class faculty is of central importance to achieving the National Flagship Agenda. Endowed chairs and professorships bring great distinction and provide discretionary funds crucial to supporting academic excellence. The State of Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund (BRSF) provides a 40 percent match for certain gifts, leveraging the private donation.
- Endowed Chairs in the College of Science (or a specific department)
- Endowed Professorships in Science (or a specific department)
Training outstanding teachers in science and math is an important issue for our state and our country. LSU's GeauxTeach program recruits and prepares highly qualified secondary education teachers in biology, chemistry, math, and physics. This is a new curriculum whereby graduates obtain degrees in their science discipline while learning the methods of teaching.
