LSU PhD candidate Murtaza Aslam is combining machine learning, spectroscopy, and cancer research to improve pancreatic cancer detection. His work could help make future diagnostics and treatments faster, more precise, and less invasive for patients.

Joining the Eta Kappa chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. during my freshman year gave me a unique opportunity to experience Greek life through multiple lenses. I was able to see the organization not only as someone who is brand new to campus and learning the culture, but also as someone gradually growing into leadership within it. That early exposure shaped my understanding of what it means to fully commit to something.

Every May, the Ogden Honors College celebrates a group of students who have gone above and beyond in the classroom, in the lab, in the field, and in their communities. This year's graduating class is no different. From archaeological digs in the English countryside to policy research presented at Harvard, from laboratory breakthroughs to community-centered service, the Class of 2026 leaves LSU having made their mark.
