Title IX
Louisiana State University (LSU) is committed to sustaining a campus environment that is free from discrimination based on sex including all forms of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating and domestic violence, stalking, power-based violence, and retaliation.
Support Is Here
Title IX works to provide a safe and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff who seek assistance with reporting incidents, supportive measures, learning more about processes and policies, or those who want to contribute to a positive learning environment.
To realize this vision, the work of the office centers around three primary functional areas:
Response & Support
Response includes everything that happens after harm is reported, from thoughtful outreach to a community member to the provision of supportive measures, healing resources, and information about reporting options and resolution processes.
Title IX case managers provide nonjudgmental education to assist individuals in making
the most informed decisions possible. Case managers refer individuals to critical
resources on campus and in the community.
Resolutions
Title IX staff assist in resolution facilitation. Individuals who have experienced gender-based harm from another community member have the right to request the university to officially resolve the matter either through a formal investigatory process or an informal process.
Filing a formal complaint to initiate a resolution with the university is a personal decision and not a requirement. Individuals have access to supportive measures regardless of their decision to file a formal complaint.
Prevention Education
Prevention Education and Training exists to increase awareness of sexual discrimination and violence; impart and improve knowledge and skills in the prevention of sex discrimination and sexual violence; and influence attitudes and behaviors that will ultimately lead to culture change and decrease in sexual violence occurrences at LSU.
Training opportunities exist for students, faculty, and staff. Prevention staff are available for consultations to discuss the appropriate training opportunity to meet the needs of the community.
