LSU Diplomas

Exciting and important changes are coming to graduation as we continue to evolve our ceremony to make the occasion as memorable as possible for you and your family. Starting spring 2022, graduates will receive a newly redesigned diploma—inspired by the diploma awarded to students in 1899. More than ever, your new diploma will be a testament of your hard work these past years.

On the evening of commencement, you will receive a digital version of your diploma via email and text message, which can be shared on social media to celebrate the big day. As a keepsake of commencement day, each graduate who attends the ceremony will also receive a diploma cover and a congratulatory message from campus leadership. Twenty-one business days after the ceremony, your printed diploma will be shipped to the address you provided in your application for degree.

  • Redesigned LSU Diploma 2022

Your diploma will only show your degree title as was filed by your department with the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Majors, Minors and Concentrations do not appear on your diploma. All majors, minors and concentrations are listed on your academic transcript.

Undergraduates who have graduated with Latin or College Honors will have this noted on their diploma beneath the degree title. Latin Honors and College Honors will also be posted to academic transcripts.

Senior colleges will confirm Latin Honors after final grades have been processed.

Graduate students do not receive Latin Honors.

If there is an error on the diploma, return it to the Registrar’s Office, 112 Thomas Boyd Hall, for correction. If the error is the fault of the University, no fee is charged. If the error is the student’s fault, a replacement diploma fee applies.

Beginning March 2022, new graduates will receive an email and text notification once their degree has been conferred. The message will provide instructions on how to claim your diploma electronically.

Alumni can purchase a digital diploma through Parchment.

Once you receive your digital diploma, it will always be accessible through your Parchment account. You can login and download or share it at no cost.

What do I do with a Digital Diploma?

  • Celebrate with friends and family
  • View or download a verifiable copy of your diploma
  • Share with employers for degree verification
  • Use as an alternative to an apostille

A replacement diploma may be requested if your original diploma has been lost or destroyed, or your name has changed since graduation. Your replacement diploma will bear the signatures of current state and University officials.

To obtain a replacement diploma, complete and submit a replacement diploma request through Parchment. Associated fees apply. More information is available at: lsu.edu/diploma
