Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education faculty, Margaret-Mary Sulentic Dowell, PhD, Cecil "Pete" Taylor Endowed Professor and director of the LSU Writing Project, was selected as a Writer-in-Residence for the Earnest Oberholtzer Foundation.
This summer, LSU School of Information Studies students traveled across Scotland and England as part of the Libraries in the UK study abroad program. Led by Jennifer Steele, the four-week experience gave students hands-on opportunities to explore libraries, archives and cultural institutions while gaining new perspectives on their field. The program also marked the first time LSU Online students could participate in an SIS study abroad experience, allowing remote students to connect with classmates in person while learning abroad.

BATON ROUGE, LA -- Grace Mahfouz, a doctoral student in LSU's School of Leadership & Human Resource Development, has been awarded $2,000 from the Louisiana Nature & Health Alliance (LSU Chapter) to support her dissertation research.
Boquet was appointed to the Emergency Preparedness Subcommittee for the Governor's Advisory Council on Disability Affairs. The appointment recognizes Boquet's expertise in disability, transition and emergency preparedness, including her current grant-funded work developing emergency preparedness curriculum for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
For Andraé Holliday Jr., education has never been about reaching a finish line. Since first beginning his academic journey at LSU in 2012, Holliday has earned five degrees and three certificates, including a doctorate in leadership and human resource development, while also serving as an adjunct instructor in LSU's School of Leadership & Human Resource Development. LSU launched AI Literacy Essentials, a free online course that provides a general introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and how to use it effectively, professionally, and ethically. CHSE faculty Jacqueline Bach and Edward Benoit III are featured as experts shaping the content.
LSU's Social Research & Evaluation Center is advancing research and evidence-based strategies to improve school attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism in Louisiana and beyond. In collaboration with the LSU College of Human Sciences & Education, SREC participated in Attendance USA(TM)'s inaugural Research to Practice: Research to Results Summit, held June 5-7, 2026, at LSU's Huey P. Long Field House in Baton Rouge. The summit brought together national, state and local experts focused on translating research into actionable approaches to improve student attendance. Recognized for its longstanding work addressing school absenteeism, SREC delivered the summit's plenary address. Through its research, partnerships and community engagement, SREC works to better understand the factors contributing to absenteeism and identify evidence-based practices that support student attendance, engagement and success.
