SSS Services
Student Support Services (SSS) provides individualized academic, personal, and transition support designed to help students succeed, persist, and graduate from LSU. Through personalized guidance, meaningful engagement, and access to campus resources, SSS empowers students to overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and make the most of their college experience.
Academic Advising & Success Coaching
- Small caseload advising with dedicated SSS counselors
- Academic advising and degree planning support
- Review of academic progress
- Course selection guidance
- Development of individualized success plans
- A dedicated team available for questions, support, and referrals

Academic Support & Resources
- Free individualized tutoring
- Access to computer lab facilities and free printing
- Dedicated study areas and student community space
Student Engagement & Development
- Educational and community-building activities
- Leadership development opportunities
- First-year experience programming for incoming students
- Ready, Set, Geaux Orientation (pre-semester program to support First-year students transition to LSU)
SSS 1001 – Student Success Strategies
- A 2-credit hour course taught by Jude Abshire
- Focuses on academic success skills, study strategies, and non-cognitive skill development
- Helps students build tools for success in college, career, and personal life
- Supports navigation of LSU systems and expectations

Peer Support & Mentoring
- Peer mentors who support first-year students
- Structured first-year programming led by SSS staff
