New Member Expectations
Incoming first-year students participate in a structured first-semester experience designed to support a successful transition to LSU and Student Support Services. Through required program activities and active engagement, students build a strong foundation for academic success while working toward Full Membership in SSS.
Orientation & Course Requirement
To successfully complete the first-semester experience, incoming first-year students are expected to:
- Attend Ready, Set, Geaux (RSG) Bootcamp during Welcome Week.
- Enroll in SSS 1001 (SSS Success Strategies) and successfully complete the course with a grade of C- or higher.
Students who withdraw from SSS 1001 during their first semester may lose access to SSS services, including advising, tutoring, priority scheduling, and the SSS Lab.

Engagement Expectations
Students earn priority scheduling through active participation in Student Support Services by:
- Meeting with an SSS counselor at least three times each semester (SAS meeting, scheduling meeting, and end-of-semester check-in).
- Meeting with their assigned SSS Peer Mentor.
- Participating in at least three SSS engagement activities, which may include:
