Thanksgiving Message from President William F. Tate IV

November 24, 2021

Dear LSU Community,

Thanksgiving reminds us to collectively embrace the many wonderful people in our lives and to cherish blessed circumstances. Too often, we take friends, family, and colleagues for granted. Or we fail to appreciate our mentors, teachers, and advisors. We let our busy schedules and the barrage of responsibility we all shoulder bury our thoughts of thankfulness.

For my part, my wife, Kim, and I are deeply grateful to be part of this incredible community. The passion, tenacity, resiliency and deep commitment that so uniquely defines the LSU community warrants a joyful acknowledgement. I am thankful for our collective work during hurricane season and throughout the pandemic. I am thankful that each one of you chose this university as your home and your place to learn, teach, work and research. I appreciate the people that have invested in LSU over the course of its history. And I am thankful for the unparalleled potential our flagship represents for the state of Louisiana and the nation. I am encouraged by the growing excitement building around us as we position for accelerated impactfulness in the year to come.

The start of 2022 isn’t far away and brings with it great promise and hope. I look forward to working with you to make sure that we continue to build upon the foundation of excellence we already stand upon.

Happy Thanksgiving,

William F. Tate IV
LSU President
