CLEAR Gulf

Our Solution

Bridges to Knowledge: Our efforts seek to raise “technological literacy” concerning de-carbonization options and build durable networks of communication between residents, universities, regulatory agencies, and industry.

We have selected areas to develop hypothetical project models where natural geology is conducive to carbon sequestration, hydrogen storage, and geothermal projects.  This will serve to prioritize communities.

Our research will yield insights about how coastal communities, when presented with accurate technical assessment of risk and benefit, will respond to a range of energy transition projects.  Residents will be engaged in directing hypothetical  projects in their communities through innovative teaching tools.

Over the five-year term of the grant our proposal will develop technically accurate and accessible models of potential decarbonization projects that can be presented to communities for detailed discussions about risks and benefits.  We will share with the community innovative technologies for evaluating and monitoring decarbonization projects.

Impactful: We will compile, process and assimilate data from community engagements into a comprehensive set of learning resources to be made available to the broader Gulf Coast region.
