Service at the Center
When Mekhi Glover arrived at LSU, he didn't immediately know he wanted to pursue a business degree. His curiosity took shape as he talked with students and others at the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Those conversations opened his eyes to possibilities in accounting and finance, fields he discovered were not only full of growth potential but also rooted in relationship-building.
As his path became clear, so did the opportunity to align his professional goals with his commitment to service.
"I didn't really know anything about business when I came to school. I didn't know what the 'Big Four' was. I didn't know how to do taxes. There are a lot of people out there, especially in the community I grew up in, who didn't know how to do these things and still don't know how to manage or invest their money. That's a big reason why I joined the business college. I want to motivate them, teach them, and give back to them."
Mekhi brings a service-first mindset to everything he does at LSU. He is an active member of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) at LSU, the LSU Black Male Leadership Initiative, and the Commercial Banking Student Association. He credits NABA with shaping his career path and providing connections that led to internships with KPMG.
As vice president of the Economics and International Trade & Finance Club and an ambassador for the LSU African American Cultural Center, Mekhi helps students build networks, find community, and recognize their own potential.
That same sense of responsibility guides his work as a resident assistant (RA) for LSU Residential Life, a role he calls one of the most transformative experiences of his time at LSU. As an introverted, out-of-state student, he once found it challenging to fully engage on campus. Now, he uses his role to foster a sense of belonging in others.
“Everybody comes with a different background and has a different way of learning and wanting to be heard and communicate. I'm learning to have one-on-one conversations, handle conflict, and work with teams. The RA role has probably had the biggest impact on me, and I'm really grateful to have it.”
Mekhi's passion for helping others is deeply personal. When reflecting on the people who've shaped him, he names his brother, Nate.
"He pushed me to be better than what he is. There aren't a lot of people who want others to be better than them. I really value that. He was always there every step of the way to teach me things and pick me up when I fell down."
At LSU, he cites his supervisor and current MBA student, Christian Golden, as an important mentor.
"Whether I needed guidance in my role, help navigating school, advice for interviews, or simply someone to talk to, Christian was always willing to help. Beyond his support, he's been a strong example of what it means to pursue excellence. Seeing his drive motivates me to push myself harder each day."
Mekhi strives to have that same impact on others. When asked what he hopes to be remembered for, his answer is simple and clear: "I want to be able to give back as much as possible, be a motivation for people, and be an inspiration."

What's your definition of a fulfilling life?
To me, a fulfilling life is one where the opportunities and experiences you gain are used to uplift and support others along the way. I believe true success is not just about personal achievements, but about the positive impact you have on the people and communities around you. Whether it’s mentoring someone, supporting your community, or helping others reach their potential, those moments of impact give life real meaning.
