Message from President Tate: Merit Increases

June 20, 2022

Dear LSU faculty and staff,

Thanks to the historic investment in higher education by Gov. John Bel Edwards, Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, and the Louisiana Legislature, it brings me great joy to share that we will provide merit increases for faculty and unclassified staff. And, as we announced last week, classified employees are also receiving market salary adjustments.

The raises will be effective July 1 for fiscal year and professional hourly employees and August 15 for employees paid on an academic year basis. The raise pool will be for eligible faculty and staff and is not a set percentage. Your leadership team will receive details soon on the process and will determine your percentage and communicate your raise to you in the coming weeks.

I am proud of the outstanding work you all do, and I’m very pleased you’re going to receive the pay increases you so clearly deserve. It was a priority for me during the Legislative session to pursue funding to support the Scholarship First Agenda and our commitment to excellence at all levels. Your work exemplifies that agenda.

I want to again thank the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the Legislature for their investment, and to assure you that we will do everything possible to keep faculty and staff pay commensurate with the incredible work you do. You are what makes LSU great. On behalf of the Board of Supervisors and our leadership team, thank you.

Sincerely,

William F. Tate IV
LSU President
