All Apartment Selection via Time Slots

Housing portal opens to current first-year students in res halls, transfer students, graduate students, vet med students, law students and all other students not currently living on campus to select an apartment space in East Campus Apartments, West Campus Apartments, or Nicholson Gateway Apartments based on their assigned time slot and pull-in preferred roommates into available spaces. Time slots are randomly assigned.

Apartment selection happens very quickly. Check your LSU email for helpful tips, including:

  • Have your application started and preferred roommate group formed by February 19 to get a time slot
  • View updated apartment availability.
  • Set your group leader as the student with the earliest time slot to have maximum options available to search
  • Once you select a space, you have 48 hours to pay the $250 nonrefundable prepayment to secure your apartment room for the upcoming year. Pulled-in roommates also must submit the prepayment to secure their space.

The Fine Print

Current students begin the on-campus apartment selection process for the next academic year in February. A $250 non-refundable prepayment is required to secure an apartment space.

Roommates

You can create a preferred roommate group in the housing portal prior to apartment selection. If there are available rooms in the apartment you choose, you can place friends from your preferred roommate group into those available spaces in your apartment.

Roommates must submit the $250 nonrefundable prepayment in the housing portal to complete the process and secure the space.

You can only place roommates in your apartment who appear in your preferred roommate group in the online housing portal. It is the group leader's responsibility to assign the group members.

Being in a roommate group does not guarantee you to be roommates.

Apartment/Room Changes

Once you secure an apartment space online and submit the $250 nonrefundable prepayment, you will have to contact our room assignments staff to make any changes to your room/apartment assignment.

A $250 nonrefundable prepayment is required to secure your apartment for the next year.

Payment must be made with a credit or debit card in the online housing portal within 48 hours of apartment/room reservation. After 48 hours, reservations will be purged to make spaces available to other students.

The entire $250 will be applied toward the fall fee bill. However, those that cancel their assignment will forfeit the entire $250, and are subject to the cancellation fee schedule.

Scholarship Payment

Students who use scholarship money for their housing will need to submit the nonrefundable prepayment during the online renewal process with a credit or debit card. The prepayment will not affect the amount covered by scholarship. Once the scholarship funds are applied to the student’s fee bill, all or some some of the housing charge will be paid (depending on the scholarship amount), and any overage in the student account will be refunded to the student’s account.

Pelican Promise

If you have the Pelican Promise award, you do not have to submit the $250 prepayment at the time of apartment selection. The prepayment is deferred to your fall fee bill.

If you did not secure an apartment and are still interested in living in on-campus apartments next school year OR if you did secure an apartment space, but are interested in moving to a different apartment on campus, add yourself to the apartment wait list in the housing portal. If you have preferred roommates, you should all join the wait list and list each other as preferred roommates on the wait list form.

Our goal is to find space throughout the spring and summer using vacancies that occur from room changes or cancellations to offer you an apartment space that better meets your preferences in the quickest and fairest way possible. While it is not guaranteed, we will do our best.

If a space becomes available, the Assignments Team will contact you via your LSU email, and you have 48 hours to respond to the email.

Students who have paid the prepayment to reserve an apartment space and decide to cancel their fall reservation will forfeit the $250 nonrefundable prepayment and are subject to cancellation penalties.
