Summer Programs for K-12 Students

The LSU College of Engineering invites you to explore our 2020 summer experiences! These experiences will give you a head start in your STEM education and help prepare you for an exciting career in multiple fields. Check out the info below and make sure to check back regularly for updates and more info.

High School Summer Research Program (Grades 9-12)

The High School Summer Research (HSSR) Program is a unique opportunity for high-achieving high school students to engage in real research in the fields of engineering, computer science, and construction management. Students selected through a competitive application process each fall will be paired with faculty mentors to work on a research project in the following summer.

LSU Pre-College Virtual Academy - 3 weeks

Introduction to Engineering (Grades 9-12)

Intro to Engineering will introduce you to the profession, ethics, and diversity of the field of engineering. You will receive a mailed learning kit of supplies for 15 hands-on projects relating to 10 different fields of engineering. Throughout the course, you will interact virtually with an instructor, teaching assistants, and your peers to learn about each discipline and work on projects. This experience will allow you to explore the differences between each engineering discipline and help you make more informed decisions about future elective choices in high school and selecting your college major.
