Summer Camps for K-12 Students

The LSU College of Engineering invites you to explore our 2019 summer camps! These camps will give you a head start and hands-on experiences in your STEM education. Check out the info below, and follow the links to learn more and register today!

Engineering Camps

Halliburton XCITE (Grades 9-11, female only)

The Halliburton eXploration Camp Inspiring Tomorrow’s Engineers invites female students to campus for the opportunity to explore, create, experiment, build, code, design, and engage in a variety of engineering and college prep activities.

Students will interact with college faculty and students and attend workshops, activities, and off-campus industry tours. The signature event is a week-long “Design Project Competition,” in which students compete on teams to design, build, and present a project.

July 7 - July 13, 2019 at LSU Campus
Cost: $450 (includes room & board)
(scholarships available for students with documented financial need)

REHAMS (Grades 11-12)

The Recruiting into Engineering High-Ability Multicultural Students camp invites male and female students to campus for the opportunity to explore, create, experiment, build, code, design, and engage in a variety of engineering and college prep activities.

Students will interact with college faculty and students and attend workshops, activities, and off-campus industry tours. The signature event is a week-long “Design Project Competition,” in which students compete on teams to design, build, and present a project.

June 9 - June 15, 2019 at LSU Campus
Cost: $600 (includes room & board)
(scholarships available for students with documented financial need)

STEM Pathways: Introduction to Engineering (Grades 9-12)

Through interactions with LSU Engineering faculty, visits to real engineering labs, and hands-on projects related to 10 primary engineering disciplines, you will get a fully immersive experience into this exciting field!

This experience will help you make informed decisions about future elective choices in high school, lead you to an interesting major in college, and eventually to the career of your dreams!

(NOTE: This camp is not recommended for students who have completed or are planning to take the LSU STEM Pathways: Introduction to Engineering course in their high school)

June 9 - June 29, 2019 at LSU Campus
Commuters: $1,395 (Includes lunch)

LSU Robotics Summer Residential Program (Grades 9-12)

Robotics is at the intersection of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. This summer camp explores the basic principles behind the fascinating and growing world of robotics, while giving you a sneak peek into life as an LSU Engineer.

Learn about the essential components of robotic systems by using the VEX platform to build and program a functioning robot. The camp involves hands-on activities and the opportunity to interact with LSU faculty and students.

June 23 - June 28 at LSU Campus
Cost: $1,195 ($1,145 by May 3, 2019)

Engineering & Innovation (Grades 7-8)

Join us this week as we introduce you to a variety of cutting-edge engineering and computing fields. Through field trips and hands-on projects, you will have the opportunity to work in teams to design, build, and present a project.

July 8 - July 12 at LSU Campus
Cost: $375 ($325 if registered by May 23)

Computer Science Camps

Intro to Computer Science and Programming (Grades 9-12)

In this camp, you will develop problem-solving skills in programming and learn key concepts in major areas of computer science (such as technology systems, networks, algorithms, data structures, data analytics, visualization, artificial intelligence, robotics, and cybersecurity). You will also explore cutting-edge labs and interact with computer science faculty and students.

June 17- June 21, 9:00am - 4:00pm at LSU Campus
Cost: $375/$325 if registered before May 3 
($200 financial need scholarships available)

Exploring Computer Science (Grades 7-8)

In today’s world, computing is everywhere, whether it is in the form of actual computers (laptops or desktops), cell phones, sensors, or many other embedded devices. Learn how these computing devices work and how they help us solve all kinds of interesting problems through hands-on-experiences with hardware and software. You will also explore cutting-edge labs at LSU and meet professors and students working in this exciting area!
