Experience the startup process while working with professional mentors and other LSU students. Whether you come to pitch the next big idea or prefer to participate as a team member, expect to learn what it takes to innovate, disrupt, and start a company – no business experience needed! Participating in Startup LSU can also help you prepare for a chance to win a share of $35,000 in the J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge.

TYPICAL Event schedule

Time Activity
4:30 p.m. Check-in: Make your way to the Business Education Complex Rotunda and stop at the check-in desk
5:00 p.m. Dinner & networking: Eat, share ideas, practice pitches, get to know fellow participants 
5:30 p.m. Welcome & speakers: Review agenda for the weekend and meet speakers, coaches, and community leaders 
6:15 p.m. Pitches start: Line up to give your pitch (Optional - you do not have to pitch to benefit from Startup LSU.)
7:30 p.m. Voting: Attendees vote for the top pitches.
8:00 p.m. Form teams: Come together as a team and set up your workspace for the weekend 
8:30 pm. Begin work: Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. Check with the event team to know how late you can stay to work on your idea.

9:00 a.m. Workshop: Attend business model canvas workshop 
10:00 am. Mentoring sessions: Mentors help teams one-on-one. Take advantage of their expertise.

1:00 p.m. Mentoring sessions: Mentors help teams one-on-one. 
6:00 p.m. Dinner
7:00 p.m. Check with the event team to know how late you can stay to work.
