Announcing Dr. Dana Hollie as Chair of the LSU Department of Accounting

Dana Hollie headshotBATON ROUGE - Dana Hollie has been appointed as the new chair of the Department of Accounting at the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business.

Dr. Hollie served on the LSU faculty from 2009 to 2018 and rejoined the university in fall 2022. During her time away from Baton Rouge, she was a visiting scholar in financial economics at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. 

"The LSU Department of Accounting has a long-standing reputation for developing exceptional practitioners, scholars, and leaders in the profession," said Hollie. "As I step into the role of department chair, I am honored to build upon that strong foundation by fostering a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered environment that continues to elevate the department’s impact in research, teaching, and professional engagement."

Hollie's research focuses on financial reporting, accounting regulation and policy, and disclosure. She has taught PhD seminars and courses in accounting policy and issues, financial accounting, and corporate governance. 

"Professor Hollie is an accomplished scholar, teacher, and leader, and we are thrilled to welcome her to this important role," said Russell Crook, dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business. "Her leadership skills and experience will greatly benefit students, the department, and the college, and we are grateful that she answered the call to serve."

Hollie has previously served at the University of Toledo, the University of Houston, and the University of Colorado Boulder. She is a CPA and holds a PhD in accounting from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.

She succeeds Dr. Thomas Phillips, who led the department for 13 years and oversaw a period of increased enrollment and research productivity.
