GameDay Recycling Challenge

The GameDay Recycling Challenge is a nationwide competition that empowers colleges and universities to reduce the most amount of waste generated at home football games through various waste reduction efforts such as food waste recovery, recycling, and the use of reusable products. To participate in the competition, schools choose one home football game to track and report their waste diversion data in hopes of winning the coveted title.

This year, LSU Campus Sustainability has selected the Clemson game held on September 6th, 2026, to enter the competition and will be choosing to report on the most amount of recyclables collected per capita. We will be partnering with the Osprey Initiative to collect recyclables from inside the stadium on Sunday morning following the game. Extra recycling bins will be staged in designated tailgates to help capture more bottles and cans leading up to kickoff.

We are rallying all students and student organizations to join us by helping us deploy extra recycling bins at tailgates, collecting recyclables on Sunday morning from both inside the stadium and at designated tailgates, and sorting all recyclables collected in order to report our numbers for the competition. LSU has proudly won the challenge in 2015, 2016, and 2019, and with your help, we can bring home the title once again!
