2022 - 2023 Promotion & Tenure

May 19, 2023

The Department of Biological Sciences is honored to announce the following three faculty members who received promotion and/or tenure for the 2022-2023 academic school year. These individuals successfully completed a rigorous process at the departmental, college and University level.

Jeremy Brown, promoted to Professor. Dr. Brown has been a faculty member since 2011. His research interests involve using genomic data to investigate evolutionary history (phylogenetics) and the origins of biodiversity, as well as studying how evolution shapes genes and genomes.

SeYeon Chung, promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Chung has been a faculty member at LSU since 2017. Dr. Chung’s lab takes advantage of powerful Drosophila genetics, fixed and live imaging and computational analysis. Specifically, using Drosophila embryonic tubular epithelia as models, the Chung lab seeks to understand how the forces driving spatiotemporal changes in cell shape, arrangement and position are generated and transmitted during epithelial tube formation.

Laura Lagomarsino, promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Lagomarsino has been a faculty member since 2017. The Lagomarsino Lab focuses on phylogenetics, systematics, and macroevolution of flowering plants in tropical America.

We are excited to recognize their accomplishments at an event in the fall.
