Internal Funding Opportunities for LSU Faculty

Program Revision

The new internal funding opportunities will be announced on Monday, August 15, 2022.

General Research Support

The General Research Support programs include Pentagon-focused interdisciplinary research, support for research activities broadly across campus, and support for research infrastructure.

The Faculty Research Grant program is intended to provide initial seed funding for new and exploratory research projects, provide resources for more extended work targeting external funding sources, and for major grants with the goal of creating opportunities for center-scale funding and groundbreaking research.

The Office of Research & Economic Development has two internal grant programs to support faculty travel in the service of research. Faculty Travel Grants provide up to $1000 in matching funds for domestic and international travel in support of research related travel. The faculty travel grants are reviewed quarterly. Submission deadlines will be announced at the beginning of each academic year.

The Southeastern Conference also provides travel funds to enable faculty from SEC schools to vist one another for the purpose of developing research collaborations. Applications are accepted in the early spring for the following academic year.

The Council on Research Summer Stipend program provides a one-month summer appointment to early career researchers seeking support to establish their research portfolio. Faculty who receive the awards are not eligible to teach during any summer session, so that their research time can focus entirely in their funded area.

The Office of Research & Economic Development administers several programs that support the acquisition and repair of shared equipment and technology. They include:
