LSU System Announces Hiring of Meg Casper Sunstrom as Chief Communications Officer

BATON ROUGE – LSU President Wade Rousse has named Meg Casper Sunstrom to serve as Chief Communications Officer of the LSU System.  Sunstrom, who will begin her new role on February 18th, most recently served as the Chief Communications Officer for the Louisiana State Legislature.

“Meg’s experience and expertise as a strategic communicator will immediately elevate our efforts to tell LSU’s story across Louisiana and the nation,” said President Rousse. “She believes in LSU and shares our ambition of making LSU one of the nation’s elite institutions. Her passion for strategic and transparent communications is contagious, and we could not be more excited to add her to our leadership team.”  

Sunstrom will serve as a key member of the President’s leadership team and will provide strategic guidance and oversight for the LSU System’s communications – including internal and external communications, reputation and crisis management, media relations, and brand management.

An LSU graduate from the Manship School of Journalism, Sunstrom spent several years producing and reporting news for WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge.  She has lent her talents to the Louisiana Department of Education, the Board of Regents and the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office. Most recently, in her role with the Louisiana Legislature, Meg directed one of the only non-partisan, joint House/Senate communications offices in the country - winning national recognition for the launch of a one-of-its kind mobile phone app for legislative information.
