BATON ROUGE – LSU has named Emmett Brown its permanent Vice President for Enrollment Management, a role he has held on an interim basis since July.

Reporting directly to the Provost, Brown will lead the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Success and serve as LSU’s chief enrollment strategist. In this capacity, he will guide LSU’s overall approach to enrollment, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and a focus on student success from recruitment through graduation.

“Students are at the heart of LSU’s mission. Emmett brings the experience, judgment, and collaborative spirit we need at this moment, and I’m confident his leadership will help LSU continue to attract, support, and graduate talented students from across Louisiana and beyond,” said Executive Vice President and Chancellor James T. Dalton.

With more than 13 years of progressive leadership at LSU—spanning undergraduate admissions, college-based recruitment, online and continuing education, and university-wide enrollment management—Brown is exceptionally well-positioned to lead LSU’s enrollment portfolio. Most recently, as Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success and Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, he has provided executive leadership for 10 units, including admissions, financial aid, retention and student success, enrollment communications, data and enrollment technology, testing, orientation, and the LSU Future Scholars program.

“In a rapidly changing, highly competitive higher education landscape, Emmett is the strategic leader LSU needs,” said Interim Executive Vice President & Provost Troy Blanchard. “He understands the modern enrollment enterprise and how to clearly communicate the value of the LSU experience. Emmett brings market insight and a collaborative approach that will align our efforts across LSU, keep student success at the center, and deliver on the promise of an LSU degree.”

Brown has played a key role in LSU’s recent enrollment success, with the university seeing a 200% increase in undergraduate applications and a 67% increase in first-year students since 2017. The increase in enrollment has nearly doubled LSU’s net tuition revenue while also improving academic quality and expanding access for Pell-eligible, first-generation, and Louisiana students. Some of Emmett’s notable accomplishments include LSU’s adoption of The Common Application, the implementation of advanced analytics and predictive models that guide recruitment and student success strategies across the LSU system, and the launch of the Future Scholars program.

"I’m honored to serve in this role at my alma mater, ensuring students not only enroll at LSU, but thrive and graduate prepared to contribute to our state and beyond,” said Vice President Emmett Brown. “I look forward to collaborating with partners across campus to implement enrollment and student success strategies that expand opportunity and strengthen LSU’s future."

A two-time LSU graduate, Emmett holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from LSU. He is a graduate of the College Board’s Enrollment Leadership Academy. He has been an active contributor to state and national enrollment and admission organizations, including service as Louisiana Governmental Relations Co-Chair for the Southern Association of College Admission Counselors and as an advisory member of multiple LSU governance committees.
