LSU Student Health Center Begins Partnering with Our Lady of the Lake Health

February 22, 2023

BATON ROUGE – LSU is partnering with Our Lady of the Lake Health – Louisiana’s largest acute-care provider – to operate the Student Health Center, beginning today, Feb. 22.

Our Lady of the Lake will provide services for the Medical Clinic and Mental Health Service, while LSU will continue to maintain services for the Gynecology (GYN) Clinic, Wellness and Health Promotion, and the Lighthouse Program.

This month marks the one-year anniversary of Our Lady of the Lake Health’s historic $170 million investment in LSU to transform healthcare delivery, research and education in Louisiana. Their investment as LSU’s Championship Health Partner includes a $40 million commitment to develop an end-to-end healthcare experience within the LSU Student Health Center and provide in-kind care to uninsured and underinsured LSU students. This is the next step in LSU and Our Lady of the Lake’s effort to set a new standard for healthcare delivery.

Patients at the Student Health Center will continue to receive the same high-quality, inclusive healthcare they have come to rely on, and all providers and staff will continue to serve in their current roles.

Additionally, services at the Student Health Center are being enhanced to meet students’ evolving healthcare needs, including:

  • Increased financial assistance for uninsured and underinsured students
  • Prescription deliveries to residence halls and off-campus housing for students who are unable to access a community pharmacy
  • Expanded access to telehealth with after-hours and weekend availability
  • Access to a free 24/7 nurse advice line in Lakeline Direct
  • An integrated and personal electronic health record that will be accessible to students beyond their time at LSU

LSU students will also have access to Our Lady of the Lake’s secure online health portal, MyChart*, which helps patients track their appointments and test results and get direct messages from their providers.

The goal of this partnership is to provide LSU students with comprehensive health resources and education that empowers them to take ownership of their personal health and wellness – preparing them for a lifetime of excellent health.

“The health and wellbeing of LSU students remains our highest priority,” said Julie Hupperich, executive director of the Student Health Center. “Our goal is to enhance and expand related services, programs, and events available within the campus community, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Health.”
