The college experience is a uniquely exciting – and sometimes challenging – journey in a person’s life. I enjoy any opportunity to share in those journeys – especially for students here at LSU.

This is a special place for me. I was a student here. My wife was a  student here. My parents met here a generation before that. LSU has played such a big role in my own life. It’s all about paying it forward.

"Living around our students – especially freshmen – I am reminded everyday about all the joys and challenges that our students have and that shape their college experience every bit as much as what happens in the classroom." -Mike

The best spot on campus

This is a tough choice because there are so many wonderful little spots tucked away throughout campus to sit and read a book or to watch the bustling life of the campus. So, I asked my 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son. They said, “The Dairy Store, obviously!” I think I’ll have to go with them. It has the very best ice cream. If you have not tried the Tiger Bite flavor, you need to go there and try it right now.

A bit of competition

I placed first in the 1998 National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest as part of LSU’s Poultry Judging Team despite having never been around a chicken until six months before.

Favorite line of the LSU Alma Mater

I love “Our worth in life will be thy worth, we pray to keep it true,” because when the drums and cymbals come in at the end of that line, it gets me every single time.
