Loan Requests

We will consider sending out loans to any institution recognized by the Index Herbariorum. If you would like to request a loan, please have your herbarium director/curator send a written request to the LSU Herbarium Director.  

It is often helpful to include the catalog numbers (barcodes) of specimens of interest by searching the herbarium’s online databases ahead of time. Aside from incoming collections, the herbarium is 100% digitized and available for simple searches in key fields, such as primary collector last name, collection date, higher geography, and scientific name.  Note that there may be some limitations on searching synonyms.

If you are considering destructive sampling, please review our policy and sign our Destructive Sampling Form when requesting a loan. Permission will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
