Developing World-class Cancer Care

As LSU’s lead clinical partner in the vision for ascending the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center to an NCI-Designated Cancer Center, LCMC Health committed an initial $50 million to develop world-class, multidisciplinary cancer care and clinical research programs driven toward earning NCI designation for Louisiana.

  • The LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center gained membership in the Association of American Cancer Institutes.
  • Dr. Jiri Adamek was recruited to develop a proteomics core to grow cancer research initiatives.
  • Dr. Omeed Moaven, a surgical oncologist with expertise in oncolytic viral therapy, was recruited from the Mayo Clinic.
  • Dr. Yaguang Xi was named the Associate Director for Translational Sciences.
  • The LSU Intercampus Cancer Pilot Funding program was released to support collaborative research across the LSU system.
  • The LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center will launch the virtual clinical research nurse program with support from the National Cancer Institute and the Al Copeland Foundation.
