Patrick F. Taylor Hall offers flexible spaces that can accommodate a wide range of events, including guest lectures, conferences, workshops, symposiums, dinner banquets, information fairs, social receptions and much more.


Please note the following:

  • Any LSU College of Engineering faculty member, staff member, or student organization hosting an event affiliated with LSU COE may reserve space in PFT at no charge, pending approval.  Charges may still apply for optional services such as catering, special equipment, security, custodial support, or after-hours staffing, depending on the event's needs
  • We are currently accepting reservation requests for meetings or events through May 31, 2027.

  • No signs can be taped to any portion of the building.
  • Sandwich boards or easel stands are not permitted in public spaces.
  • Event Management can provide sign stands for events when requested by the deadline. 

PFT Facilities must approve all decorations prior to the event.

  • Prohibited items include: open flames, smoke/fog machines, glitter, streamers, confetti, and all balloons.
  • Chalk, paint, or any other materials should not be used on the building or sidewalks.
  • Items should not be affixed to the walls, windows, doors, floors, columns, light fixtures, or hung from ceilings.
  • Inflatables may be allowed, only with prior approval by LSU Auxiliary Services. Dimensions and power requirements should be submitted with the reservation request.

  • Per University policy (PS-60), all food and beverage must be provided by an LSU approved vendor. *Noncompliance will result in the party being asked to immediately remove all items.
  • PFT Facilities personnel will not accept deliveries.
  • Deliveries should be made at the front of the building. Temporary access to the main loading dock must be requested and confirmed by PFT Facilities Services. *Unapproved vendors using the loading dock will be asked to move immediately.
  • Parking will need to be secured via LSU Parking by the event organizer. Loading dock access is for drop off only.
  • Event organizers are responsible for ensuring all items are removed from the event space post event. *Noncompliance will result in a minimum $100 cleaning fee.

LSU Approved Vendors

If the University is closed due to inclement weather, all reservations in Patrick F. Taylor Hall will be automatically cancelled.

All persons are expected to respect all facilities and the rights of others as well as abide by University policies and all laws. Any person engaging in disorderly conduct, including verbal or physical, is subject to immediate removal. See our home page for the full list of our Building Policies.

Reservation Guidelines

Overview

Hours of Operation 

The PFT Hall’s hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is closed on weekends except during final examination periods. Exceptions may be made for sanctioned events held in the PFT.

Holidays

Facilities are unavailable for events on federal or university holidays or during exam periods. Events cannot interfere with the college's regular operation or educational programs. The use of the PFT will be canceled when the university is closed due to inclement weather.

Space Reservation Priorities

The following priority structure is used to determine the availability of classrooms or public spaces in the PFT Hall:

  • First priority is reserved for instructional use (e.g., classrooms, auditoriums, and other facilities for teaching classes and other instructional programs).
  • Second priority is reserved for events held by the College of Engineering.
  • Third priority is reserved for approved programs sponsored by engineering college students
  • Fourth priority is reserved for approved programs sponsored by LSU departments or LSU student organizations outside the College of Engineering.
  • Fifth priority is reserved for approved programs sponsored by groups outside of LSU.

The LSU College of Engineering reserves the right to change or cancel any previously scheduled PFT facility reservations if such change or cancellation is made to meet college or university needs. In the event of a cancellation by the College of Engineering, rental rates will be refunded.


  • PFT Rental rates are based on the reserving Once your reservation has been approved, an invoice will be sent via email. Rental fees must be paid in advance of your reservation date.
  • LSU College of Engineering only accepts payment by check for Non campus organizations. Make checks payable to Louisiana State University. NSF checks will be subject to a $25 On-campus units may pay for reservations via account transfer. A reservation will not be confirmed without billing arrangements and/or pre-payment being provided. 
  • Should a meeting or event space require cleaning outside standard operating procedures, there will be a $100 cleaning charge. This includes the removal of food or trash. Documentation of the condition of the room will be provided with the invoice.

LSU College of Engineering faculty, staff or student organization can reserve space at NO CHARGE when hosting events affiliated with LSU COE, after approval.  Charges may still apply for optional services such as catering, special equipment, security, custodial support, or after-hours staffing, depending on the event's needs.

Reservation Terms and Conditions


1.  Bookings

1.1  The applicant acknowledges that the Reservation Terms and Conditions have been read and accepted when bookings are transacted by email, even in the absence of a written signature.

1.2  The minimum time a space can be reserved is two hours.

1.3  The applicant must not assign or transfer the booking to another person or organization.

 

2.  Termination

2.1  The LSU College of Engineering may terminate reservations immediately by notice to the applicant if:

a.  There is a real possibility that damage may be caused to the PFT or its equipment by the applicant or that use by the applicant may cause an injury.

b.  The applicant uses or proposes to use the PFT for an event that is illegal or contrary to law or may impact or tend to impact the reputation of the LSU College of Engineering.

c.  There exists an emergency in the PFT or at LSU, whether due to an actual or impending event, that has the effect of causing or threatening to cause loss of life, injury, or distress to persons or danger to the safety of the public or destruction or damage to property.

d.  Such a change or cancellation is made to meet college or university needs.

 

3.  Use of Venue

3.1  The premises must only be used for the event set out in the reservation.

3.2  The applicant must not exceed the capacity limitations of the reserved space, as confirmed at the time the reservation is accepted.

3.3  Applicants using facilities must comply with PFT security requirements.

3.4  Applicants are expected to ensure that all attendees are aware of any and comply with PFT policies on evacuation procedures.

3.5  The applicant and attendees must follow instructions from PFT faculty and staff members.

3.6  Actions of attendees must not interfere with or unduly inconvenience other PFT users or cause damage to the building, equipment, walls, fixtures, or fittings. Attendees not complying with this will be requested to vacate the premises.

3.7  Food of any kind is not allowed in the PFT classrooms. Special permission and arrangements must be made with the Events Manager to have food in a classroom.

3.8  The LSU College of Engineering accepts no responsibility for food brought onto the premises by external parties.

3.9  Attendees must not leave reserved space(s) and enter other areas of the PFT.

3.10  The applicant must seek permission from the Events Manager for any signs on or outside the premises and any sign, poster, notice, or display item on the premises.

3.11  Using tape, putty, tacks, or similar materials to affix any item to a wall is strictly prohibited.

3.12  The applicant must ensure that reserved space and facilities are left clean and tidy. Any article left after departure will be considered abandoned and disposed of unless notified by the attendee within 24 hours of the event's completion.

3.13  The venue must be vacated by the agreed finishing times to ensure no disruption to other bookings.

3.14  The PFT is a smoke-free zone, including the entirety of the courtyard.

 

4.  Equipment

4.1  Electrical equipment not complying with PFT standards cannot be brought into or used on the premises.

4.2  All equipment must be used in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Attendees must arrange to get advice, instruction, or training, if required, on the use of all equipment from the LSU College of Engineering prior to use. Competent operation of audiovisual and all equipment is the responsibility of the applicant. The applicant will be responsible and charged for any damage/replacement/repair costs for non-compliance with this condition.

4.3  The applicant must inform the LSU College of Engineering if any equipment fails during use.

4.4  Equipment, materials, and substances that may adversely affect the health or safety of attendees or other people within the premises are not to be brought on-site without prior written approval from the LSU College of Engineering.

 

5.  Cleaning

5.1  The premises must be left in clean and tidy condition.

5.2  The department/person responsible for the reservation will be charged for professional cleaning services if the space is left in unsatisfactory condition.

 

6.  General Conditions

6.1  Access to the PFT outside of regular hours may be made by prior arrangement for the purpose of setup or meeting.

6.2  The information and statements in this document are based on the LSU College of Engineering’s current information at the time of posting and are subject to change at any time. Please contact the Director of External Relations to confirm this status prior to making any significant decisions for your booking.
