LSU CAS Offers Free Tutoring to LSU Students

Baton Rouge, La., October 5, 2017 - The LSU Center for Academic Success (CAS) with support from the LSU Student Technology Fee Committee, offers free online tutoring to LSU students in an effort to provide students with additional course support beyond the Shell Tutorial Center’s normal operating hours.

“We advocate for face-to-face engagement as the most effective method of tutoring, but also want to serve students who may need late night help or have other time limitations,” said Dr. Gloria Thomas, CAS Director.

LSU students may visit the Shell Tutorial Center in LSU Library for free tutoring services (Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.) or use online tutoring 24/7 through NetTutor, an online tutoring company. NetTutor provides an easy-to-use interface and interactive tutoring processes to provide students with first-rate service. Online tutoring is available in Accounting, Anatomy & Physiology, Anthropology, Astronomy, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Communications & Speech, Computer Science, Criminology, Economics, Finance, French, Geology, German, Nursing, History, and Italian.

LSU students can access online tutoring via MyLSU under Student Services by clicking on the CAS Online Tutoring link. Faculty can also grant student access to the CAS Online Tutoring service by making the service visible in Moodle.

Each LSU student has access to 900 minutes of free online tutoring each year. Students may request additional, free, online tutoring hours by contacting the CAS at cas@lsu.edu. For more information on tutorial services provided by the CAS, visit lsu.edu/cas.
