Volunteer Experience

Volunteering is another great way to gain work experience and build your résumé while in school.

These experiences:

  • Help you to explore career options to determine how well that career path "fits."
  • Provide an opportunity to assume responsibility of a project or task that can enhance your résumé.
  • Offer a means of demonstrating your special talents, skills and willingness to work.
  • Help fulfill the mission or operational needs of an organization or company.

Finding volunteer experience

Volunteer opportunities we receive are posted in Handshake. Additional opportunities are available at both Volunteer LSU and Volunteer Match.

Student Involvement Fair

Organized by LSU Campus Life, this one-day event is held on campus during both fall and spring semesters.  Baton Rouge area organizations are invited to our campus to display information and recruit LSU students for volunteer opportunities. Students explore registered student organizations, community volunteer agencies, and other involvement options.

Service Learning courses

The LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership (CCELL) facilitates service-learning and community-engaged research. In a service-learning class, students partner with non-profit community groups for hands-on experience in service projects related to course content.
