Learn to swim, become a lifeguard, get certified, or breathe underwater with one of the UREC Aquatics offerings. We have deep pools, shallow pools, outdoor pools, and an indoor pool to facilitate the trainings and programs.
American Red Cross Certifications
Everyone should be able to save a life. These courses will give you the tools needed to become certified and be prepared in an emergency situation.
This course will help participants react and respond to cardiac and first aid emergencies appropriately. Passing a test at the end is required to earn your certification.
Cost: $75
This course is designated for participants that are looking to obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or if you ar seeking to become a UREC lifeguard.
Full Course: $200
Recertification: $125
This course is designed to provide current American Red Cross Instructors with the in-person skills required to maintain or update their current American Red Cross Instructor certification. This is a one-day course. Current certifications must be emailed to urecaquatics@lsu.edu prior to registration for course.
Scuba Dives & Lessons
Now is your chance to breathe underwater! UREC offers two types of scuba diving experiences to expand your aquatic horizons.
This two hour session includes a brief safety overview followed by swimming weightless under water. All scuba equipment and gear is provided during full underwater emersion.
Cost: $40
This 3 day course will give you the knowledge to test out for your scuba diving certificate. UREC Scuba Lessons will not provide the actual certificate at the completion of the class, but rather the required training needed to test out at a scuba training site of your own choice.
Cost: $300
Private Swim Lessons
Private swim lessons are designed with your specific swim needs in mind. It doesn’t matter if you need beginner lessons to learn the basics or more advanced customized workout because UREC swim instructors design courses for your specific goals. Think of a personal trainer, but in the UREC pools!
Each registration consists of 5, 45 minute lessons arranged between you and our Aquatics team. Sessions are built over two week periods, but we can accommodate extended availability as well.
