We appreciate your interest in volunteering with LSU Upward Bound. We rely on dedicated volunteers like you to enhance the experience of each family at Upward Bound House.

Our Philosophy

The Upward Bound Program aims to develop academic skills and motivation for participants to complete secondary education and pursue post-secondary degrees.

Our primary responsibility is to offer tailored learning experiences that address individual academic, cultural, social, and vocational needs, fostering intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.

We provide engaging activities that challenge each participant to reach their full potential. 

Volunteer Jobs

We offer a diverse range of volunteer opportunities. 

Tutor

  • Consider a two-hour commitment per week to provide academic and social support to East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) students during the academic year
  • Provide effective high school level tutoring in your particular subject area (Advanced Math, Algebra 1 & 2, Biology 1 & 2, Chemistry, English, Geometry, History, Physics, and Spanish)
  • Assist with ACT Preparation

Mentor

  • Consider a one- to two-hour commitment at one (or more if desired) 
  • Assist students with understanding and applying key concepts
  • Exhibit passion and excitement for enriching the lives of young people while serving as mentors
  • Lead enrichment classes and attend field trips

Presenter/Speaker

  • Consider a one- to two-hour commitment at one (or more if desired) of our events
  • Exhibit passion and excitement for enriching the lives of young people
  • Lead enrichment classes or attend field trips
