Data Use Agreements

Data Use Agreements (DUA) are often needed when researchers are utlizing a private dataset.  DUAs are contracts between the owner of the data or steward of the data, and secondary user (in this case, an LSU researcher of human subjects).  The DUA should define the: Provider/Receiver of the Data, Purpose of the Agreement, Terms of the Agreement, Confidentiality Requirements and Respnsibilities, Security Measures and Duration of the Agreement.  These are often required to be attached to an IRB protocol, but they typically do not need to be finalized for IRB review/approval.  DUAs are submitted to the Office of Research Compliance & Integrity and signed by the institutional official in the Office of Innovation and Technology Commercialization
