Welcome to the Fall 2025 Semester!
August 25, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
As we begin the first day of the fall semester, I write to thank you all for the incredible work you have done to prepare for this moment. Your dedication and effort on the front end serve to create a strong start for our students as they join or rejoin our campus community.
This is undoubtedly one of the busiest and most demanding times of the year, but it is also one of the most exciting. During our move-in days, we continuously greeted students with our “Welcome Home!” messaging. Over the next few days and weeks, I encourage all of you who are working on campus to take a few minutes to get out and about and continue sharing that message. When you see students sitting in the Quad, walking by the Bell Tower, or eating lunch at the Union, take a moment to introduce yourself, ask them about themselves, and make sure they feel welcomed to our community. Every single one of us has a role in student success, and making students feel at home and secure now will surely enhance the likelihood that we will hand them a degree later.
Behind the scenes, we are working to support a smooth transition into the semester and to create an environment where all faculty and staff can excel in their respective domains. In the conduct of your work, I encourage you to keep our four core values front and center — Seek Truth, Embody Integrity, Empower Excellence, and Engage in Service. These values bring deeper meaning to our daily efforts and keep us tethered to our shared mission: the development of new knowledge and the cultivation of the next generation of thinkers and leaders.
Thank you again for all you contribute to making this university a place of opportunity, discovery, and achievement. Let’s make this semester truly outstanding together!
Sincerely,
Matt Lee
Interim LSU President
