Greetings from Interim President Lee

June 02, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

As I assume the role of Interim LSU President, I write to assure you that I intend to bring a sense of stability and continuity to our work. Our priorities remain intact, and the values delineated in the Scholarship First framework (Seek Truth, Embody Integrity, Empower Excellence, Engage in Service) will continue to guide us as we focus on elevating student success, excelling in research and creative work, and deeply engaging our stakeholders for the betterment of Louisiana and the world.

In my more than 20 years of service to this extraordinary institution, the main thing I have come to appreciate is that we truly do make Louisiana and the world a better place. Whether it is igniting a passion to learn in students, improving quality of life through health-related innovations – or anywhere in between - your daily work actually does make a difference. I look forward to working on your behalf as we grow our impact!

We are all deeply grateful to my predecessor, President William F. Tate IV, for building a strong sense of momentum and focus. Moving forward with the Scholarship First Agenda and the Pentagon Priorities, let’s collectively capitalize on this moment to recommit to the important work that we do, serving the state while realizing benefits to humanity far beyond our borders.

I look forward to working with all of you as We Build Teams That Win in all of our endeavors, every single day.

Sincerely,

Matt Lee

Interim LSU President
