Seungwon Yang, PhD
Seungwon Yang is a Associate Professor with a joint position in the School of Information Studies and in the Center for Computation and Technology (CCT) at Louisiana State University. He received his PhD, MS, and BS degrees from the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech. He aims to provide his students with opportunities to learn about foundational concepts and theories, as well as to gain practical hands-on skills using software tools. For research, he focuses on the topics of crisis informatics, social media, and machine/deep learning. He often collaborates with his colleagues in SLIS and CCT. Especially, he values synergy generated from working together with others when tackle bigger problems. For leisure time, he rides bicycles on the banks of Mississippi river in Baton Rouge, LA.
