TEDxLSU 2015 Tickets On Sale Now
January 13, 2015
After two successful TEDxLSU events, the third annual TEDxLSU will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015. The popular event, championed by LSU’s Communication across the Curriculum, will return to LSU’s campus in the Claude L. Shaver Theatre in the College of Music and Dramatic Arts from 1-5 p.m.
The theme for the 2015 event is connect, so Talks will focus on dynamic social, civic and commercial efforts. Twelve visionary and innovative thinkers from the area will give the “talk of their life” to ultimately show our connections to the world around us. From students to a musician to a trivia guru to a nationally renowned chef, TEDxLSU will showcase a diverse group of connectors who are making our community a better place.
One of our very own Distinguished Communicator candidates, Kurt Ristroph, was selected as a student speaker. Kurt, a junior studying engineering and classics, was the sole recipient of the 2014 Roger Hadfield Ogden Leadership Fellowship. The fellowship supports students' projects to benefit the state of Louisiana. Kurt's mission is to connect Louisiana's youth to the resources the East Baton Rouge Parish libraries provide.
Tickets are on sale now and LSU students and faculty can access a special discounted rate until Friday, February 13, 2015. Check out the website, www.tedxlsu.com, to learn more about the speakers and to purchase your ticket.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to “ideas worth spreading,” supporting world-changing ideas, connections and dialogue. The two annual TED Conferences bring together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.
TEDx events are independently organized to bring people together at local levels to share in a TED-like experience. Much like TED Conferences, TEDx events are centered on big ideas and inspiring talks intended to spark deep discussion and connection among attendees. TEDx events are officially licensed events in which guidance, rules and regulations are provided by TED.
