Family Field Day

Discover Hilltop's Wildlife

Family Field Day
Sunday, March 24
1:00-4:00pm

Bring the family to LSU Hilltop Arboretum on March 24 for a field day! Explore the water, land, and sky with Master Naturalists to see what amazing wildlife and plants we can find.

Tips:

  • All ages are welcome.
  • Dress for exploring the outdoors. We will be out there rain or shine.
  • Exploring makes you thirsty, so bring your refillable water bottle or cup.
  • Parking is limited. Please carpool!
  • Bring your phone with the iNaturalist app to help us document the species we find - we can show you how!

Purpose:

This event is in partnership with LSU Hilltop Arboretum, the Master Naturalists of Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana Conservation Corps, and the Baton Rouge Audubon Society to explore our amazing Louisiana ecosystems and to prepare for the City Nature Challenge.

What is the City Nature Challenge?

The City Nature Challenge is a global family field day! Cities all over the world will be competing to see who can photograph the most wild plants and animals in 4 days. Please help the Baton Rouge region win by participating April 26-29, 2024! To participate, go outdoors anywhere in the 12 parish region and post photos of wild plants and animals in the iNaturalist app. Nature is everywhere - you can explore your own backyard, go to the park, take a nature walk, visit the creek, and more! The city with the most participants and observations wins! http://www.brnaturechallenge.org
