G&A Graduate Research Materials Award

The Department of Geography and Anthropology has a Graduate Research Materials Award fund to support non-travel expenses for dissertation and thesis research, including the purchase of items such as digital data, archival materials, technical equipment, laboratory services or supplies, and/or data processing. Generally, a total of $500-700 is available per semester for making the awards. Awards will be made according to the quality of the proposal and the amount of funding available.

The competition dates started November 1, 2021 and will end April 1, 2022. Students will complete an online form and then upload a paper from a course relevant to geography or anthropology (depending on the award).  The paper can be from a class in that academic year (ie, Fall 2021 and Spring 2022). After April 1st, the Geography and Anthropology Research and Scholarship Committee will read the papers and make the awards, which will be effective fall 2022. Students must be enrolled for the 2022-2023 academic year to receive the award and must accept through the LSU scholarship page.
