The LSU Vet Med Veterinary Teaching Hospital works in partnership with referring veterinarians to create an optimal treatment plan for pets, horses, and livestock. We will share information each case status, conditions, and treatment with both animal owners and referring veterinarians.

Emergency Referrals

The LSU Emergency and Critical Care team is here to support our referring DVMs and we accept referrals 24/7. 

If you need to refer a case as an Emergency, please call ahead if possible and speak with the Emergency clinician on duty prior to sending the patient. The ECC service will provide the referring DVM with an estimate of costs and details about services that can be offered on an Emergency basis.

Teleradiology Service

The LSU Radiologists offer a teleradiology service to assist with interpretation of any type of imaging study: radiographs, ultrasound, CT, or MRI. We will also compare imaging studies that have occurred on different dates to assist with determining resolution or progression of disease.

Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab

The Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab is a full-service AAVLD-accredited laboratory. Housed in the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, LADDL services the people of Louisiana and surrounding states by providing animal disease diagnostic services to agricultural and general communities. LADDL enhances research development and adaptation of diagnostic tests and protocols, researches and investigates livestock and companion animal diseases impacting the health and wellbeing of the animals and citizens of Louisiana, and researches selective diseases impacting the economics on the animal industries of Louisiana. 

LADDL operates in partnership with Louisiana State University, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, Louisiana veterinarians, and livestock and poultry producers. LADDL also provide support for the teaching and research programs of LSU Vet Med.
