Brandy McMills, new director of communications and alumni relations
The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine has named Brandy McMills director of communications and alumni relations.
McMills, an LSU alumna, brings nearly 15 years of higher education experience to the role, with a professional background focused on relationship-building, strategic communications, alumni engagement, and campus partnerships. She previously served in multiple roles with the LSU Foundation and most recently led the Employer Development and Relations team at the LSU Olinde Career Center.
In her new position, McMills will oversee alumni communications and engagement initiatives for LSU Vet Med, including newsletters, digital communications, social media outreach, alumni events, continuing education opportunities, and strategic engagement efforts designed to strengthen relationships with graduates and supporters. She also will work closely with the school’s Board of Alumni, development team, Office of Admissions and Student Success, and referring veterinarians to support outreach, philanthropy, student engagement, and professional partnerships.
McMills said returning to LSU Vet Med is especially meaningful because of her previous connection to the school: “Returning to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine feels like a dream come true,” McMills said. “I’m excited to build on the momentum already created with our DVM alumni while expanding engagement with our master’s and Ph.D. graduates. LSU Vet Med has an incredible community, and I look forward to strengthening those relationships and creating new opportunities for alumni to connect with the school and with each other.”
McMills earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in public relations from the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication in 2011. She later earned a Master of Public Administration from the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business in 2019. In 2018, she was named LSU Foundation Employee of the Year.
She lives in Baton Rouge with her dog, Kingston, and enjoys spending time outdoors, including birdwatching and spending deer season with her father in Mississippi.
