LSU Vet Med issues Call for Entries for its International Exhibition on Animals in Art

The art exhibition will run October 10 through November 6. Entries open through July 15.
The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is asking artists from around the world to enter its 32nd Annual International Exhibition on Animals in Art, which will run from October 10-November 6, 2026. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The deadline to receive entries is July 15, 2026.
ENTER THE ANIMALS IN ART EXHIBITION
Criteria
Animals in Art pieces must depict an animal (fish and insects are considered animals for the purposes of this exhibition). Any work that is determined not to meet the spirit of the exhibit will not be accepted. Open to all artists 18 years of age or older. All media with the exception of video, installation, and audio works are eligible. Works must be original. All artwork must be priced and available for sale. Maximum size of entry is 60”x60”x48”. Any accepted artwork that differs from the digital image will be disqualified. Each applicant may submit a maximum of three works.
Awards
A 20 percent commission on each piece sold goes to benefit LSU Vet Med programs. You can also support the art show by making a donation. Make checks payable to the LSU Foundation with “Animals in Art” on the memo line. Awards will be given for Best of Show, Judge’s Awards, Honorable Mentions, People’s Choice, the JAVMA, and the Art Show Promotion Award. The JAVMA Award is chosen by the editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association and will be shown on a JAVMA cover. The Art Show Promotion Award is the piece chosen by LSU Vet Med to promote the next art exhibition.
2025 Exhibition
In 2025, one hundred and fifty (150) artists representing 30 states, Canada, Germany, Guatemala, and Turkey submitted 302 entries for the show. Of those 302 entries, 60 entries were selected for the exhibition, representing 26 from Louisiana, 21 from other states, and one from Canada.
