Internships

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences provides graduate professional training to interns and residents through the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  Recruitment and selection for this program are through the Veterinary Intern and Resident Matching Program (VIRMP)

Internships are one-year, non-degree programs that provide advanced training for practice in medicine and surgery, experience in clinical instruction and preparation for residency and graduate study. Most programs offer opportunities to rotate through a variety of specialties within LSU Vet Med and can be tailored to the specific interests of individual interns. Internship programs include Anesthesia & Analgesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Food Animal Medicine & Surgery, Small Animal Integrative Medicine & Rehabilitation, Small Animal Medicine & Surgery, Small Animal Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency & Critical Care, Equine Medicine & Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Zoological Medicine.  Availability of internship programs vary.  To view current internship opportunities please visit virmp.org
