Air Travel
Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR)
Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is the closest and most convenient airport for visitors traveling to LSU’s Baton Rouge campus. The drive to campus typically takes approximately 20–25 minutes, depending on traffic and the destination building.
Visitors may use:
- Uber or Lyft
- Taxis or airport shuttle services
- Rental cars
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport offers additional flight options and is approximately 70 miles from LSU. Travel to the Baton Rouge campus generally takes 75–90 minutes by car.
Visitors flying into MSY should plan to use a rental car, rideshare service or prearranged private transportation. MSY’s public buses serve the New Orleans area and do not provide direct service to Baton Rouge or LSU.
Travelers should reserve transportation in advance and allow additional time when
returning to MSY. Ground-transportation information is available through the airport’s
pages for ride apps, taxis and shuttles.
