Search for Permanent Director of the LSU Ethics Institute has begun

Louisiana State University, Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the LSU Ethics Institute. The LSU Ethics Institute, founded in 2017, seeks to promote ethical literacy and encourage ethical leadership as well as to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary ethics research designed to address significant social issues and pressing world problems. It conducts teaching workshops across the disciplines, sponsors a speaker series, and a film series, provides grants for interdisciplinary research by faculty, awards scholarships to students for research, both essay and digital, and works closely with the LSU Foundation fund raising efforts.  The position of Director is to be filled at the Rank of Associate Professor, beginning August 15, 2019.

AOS: Ethics.  AOC: Open.  Applicants should have scholarly credentials commensurate with an appointment in Philosophy at a major research university, demonstrate administrative experience or evidence of administrative potential, have the ability to manage the ongoing grant and development activities of the Institute, and the flexibility to lead a multi-disciplinary, cross-college unit with existing and potential partnerships with multiple programs across the college and the university. Candidates should have a strong record of ethics-informed teaching and research.  The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is prepared to make investments commensurate with maintaining and enhancing the Institute’s national and international reputation. Tenure will be held in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, and the appointment will include appropriate teaching and research responsibilities.
