New Faculty Join the College of Engineering

The LSU College of Engineering is proud to welcome more than a dozen new tenure-track faculty members this fall.

James Dorman, Assistant Professor
Cain Department of Chemical Engineering
Dr. Dorman is the Gordon A. and Mary Cain Professor No.3. His research interests include nanostructure synthesis, charge recombination kinetics, defect engineering in metal oxides, semiconductor engineering and hybrid solar cells.

Kevin McPeak, Assistant Professor
Cain Department of Chemical Engineering
Dr. McPeak is the Gordon A. and Mary Cain Professor No.4. His research interests include photocatalysis, plasmonic materials and nanoscale chirality.

Chao Sun, Assistant Professor

Dr. Zhou's interests include wireless communications, statistical signal processing, cross-layer optimization, and cognitive radio and spectrum coexistence.

Amin Kargarian, Assistant Professor
Division of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr. Kargarian's research interests include power systems operation and planning, decentralized and distributed optimization, decision-making in smart grides, renewable energy and energy storage integration and infrastructure interdependency analyses in future power systems.

Hyun Jeon Woo, Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering
Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Dr. Woo’s research interests include manufacturing power and energy, models for manufacturing processes, applied probability, queuing networks and stochastic processes and simulation.

Yuanhang Chen, Assistant Professor
Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering
Dr. Chen's research interests include transport process modeling and simulation, downhole and surface measurement, drilling fluids, drilling automation, geomechanics and UBD/MPD. 

Guoqiang Li, Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Dr. Li is the holder of the John W. Rhea Jr. Professorship of Engineering. His research interests include advanced grid stiffened composite, composite piping system, fracture mechanics, infrastructure composites, low-high strain rate impact on composite structures, mechanics of materials, particulate-filled composite, repair of composite structures, shape memory polymers, smart composite joints, solid mechanics and smart self-healing composites.

Manas Gartia, Assistant Professor
Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Dr. Gartia’s research interests include plasmonics, nanophotonics, surface enhanced raman spectroscopy, advanced nanofabrication and nanomanufacturing, bionsensors development, biomedical research, nuclear forensics, materials characterization, and mobile and wireless integrated sensing.

Chao Wang, Assistant Professor
Bert S. Turner Department of Construction Management
Dr. Wang’s research interests include automation in robotics in construction, information technology in construction, building information modeling and pavement quality control and assurance.
