Any request for purchases of IT equipment must adhere to university Policy Statement 107 - Computer Users' Responsibilities which states, "Each user of computing resources shall not add, modify, reconfigure or extend any component of the University network (e.g. hubs, routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, etc.) without express, written authorization from ITS."
Requisitions which include any of the aforementioned devices, such as routers, hubs, switches, etc. must be routed to ITS for approval by ITS Networking & Infrastructure as well as ITS Security Operations. If the specified IT equipment does not adhere to PS 107, ITS will suggest changes to the specifications of the equipment to ensure compliance.
Departments have the option to:
- route subject requisition(s) to ITS prior to releasing to Procurement Services, or
- release the requisition to Procurement Services to route to ITS for any additional approval.
