Why can’t I access an online article?

  • Always begin your search at the SVM Library’s homepage.          
  • Check the access dates that are available.
  • If you are using an abbreviation, try spelling out the title.
  • Call the library’s front desk for help: 225-578-9800.


Why can’t I access a full article from a database?

  • Always begin your search at the SVM Library’s homepage.
  • The library may not have every resource that a citation database shows in its search results. 
  • Check the online catalog or SVM Electronic Resources to see if the library has the article’s resource in its holdings.


How do I get access to an article our library doesn’t have?

  • Use the Interlibrary Loan service that borrows materials from other libraries. Requests can be made under the Services tab.
  • You must be a current LSU faculty, staff, or student to use this service.


How do I find a book or journal in the library?

  • Use the Online Catalog to see if the library has a source and to find its location.


How do I find articles on a topic?

  • Use the Databases that the SVM Library or Main Campus Library provides.
  • Ask the library associate at the reference desk for instructions on how to use the databases.


How do I access electronic resources on and off campus?

  • Always begin your search at the SVM Library’s website. 
  • You must be affiliated with the School of Veterinary Medicine to access resources off site.
