Professor James E. Shelledy holds the Fred Jones Greer Jr. Chair in Media Business and Ethics and directs the Manship School News Service. Since the summer of 2010, he has worked with students to uncover, archive, and share investigative details of unsolved civil rights era murders in Louisiana and southern Mississippi from the 1960s. Under his direction, the students have written 35 stories for area newspaper and online audiences. His students also have created an interactive website that shares more than 175,000 pages of FBI files. Before joining the faculty at LSU, he was editor of The Salt Lake Tribune for 12 years.
