Associate Dean Malcolm Richardson is the Dr. J.F. Taylor Professor of English. He has served as Associate Dean in the LSU College of Humanities & Social Sciences since 2011. Richardson previously served as Associate Dean of the LSU Graduate School (2009-2011) and department chair of the LSU Department of English (1998-2004).
Richardson received a bachelor’s of arts degree in history in 1969 from the University
of Tennessee and a master’s of arts degree in English from the University of Nevada
in 1974. In 1978, he received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Tennessee.
Richardson studies medieval literature, language, and rhetoric, and his latest book
is Middle Class Writing in Late Medieval London. He teaches courses in Chaucer, Shakespeare,
and earlier English literature. He also teaches courses in technical and academic
writing and served as the founding Director of the LSU Writing Center from 1994-1998.
His awards include the LSU Alumni Outstanding Faculty Award and the Tiger Athletic
Foundation Outstanding Faculty Award.
