October 16, 2026

BATON ROUGE, LA - The LSU School of Education will welcome educator, advocate, and education policy expert Scott Goldstein for an author book talk on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. in Room 1270 of the Huey P. Long Field House.

Photo of Scott GoldsteinGoldstein will discuss his book, Human-Centered Schools: A Roadmap to Sustainable School Progress, which explores how strong human relationships can serve as the foundation for meaningful and lasting school improvement.

Drawing on 20 years of classroom teaching and education policy work in Washington, D.C., and beyond, Goldstein argues that sustainable progress in schools depends on the quality of relationships among students and teachers, educators and leaders, schools and families, and policymakers and the communities they serve.

The book offers a practical framework for educators and education leaders, bringing together these relationships into actionable strategies for professionals working at the school, district, state, and national levels.

Goldstein is an experienced educator and education policy advocate who taught social studies and English as a Second Language in Washington, D.C., for 10 years across public, public charter, and private schools. He has also taught internationally. His work focuses on improving teacher retention, particularly among educators of color, and elevating the voices of diverse educators in education policy.

A question-and-answer session will follow the discussion.
